How to Display a Wedding Welcome Sign

A wedding welcome sign works best where guests naturally slow down: just inside the venue entrance, beside the ceremony doors or at the start of the reception area. It should be visible without blocking the flow of people.

Use a floor easel

A full-size easel is the most popular option for a 60 × 80cm sign. It raises the design to eye level and creates room for flowers or candles around the base. Check that the easel has a stable ledge and is rated for the board size.

Create an entrance table

A 40 × 60cm sign can sit on a sturdy tabletop easel beside the guest book, cards box or welcome drinks. Keep enough space around it so décor does not cover the names or date.

Ask the venue what is available

Many Irish hotels and wedding venues already own easels. Ask whether one is included, what colour it is and which sign dimensions it supports. This can save an unnecessary purchase and helps you choose the right board size.

Secure outdoor displays

Outdoor signs need protection from wind. Use a weighted, stable stand on level ground and avoid placing the display in an exposed doorway. Move it indoors if conditions deteriorate.

Style the area without hiding the message

Flowers, foliage, lanterns and fabric can connect the sign with the venue styling. Keep decoration away from the main text, and avoid placing candles close to the printed board.
