Are Personalised Photo Mugs Dishwasher and Microwave Safe?

Printmania’s standard white ceramic personalised mugs are suitable for normal dishwasher and microwave use. Sensible care still helps the printed design and ceramic surface stay looking their best for longer.

Can the mug go in a dishwasher?

Yes, the mug is suitable for dishwasher use. Place it securely so it cannot knock against heavy cookware or other mugs during the cycle. Normal household washing is appropriate.

For maximum care, especially with a mug that has sentimental value, gentle hand washing with a soft sponge is the safest option.

Can it be used in a microwave?

Yes, the standard mug can be used in a microwave for normal reheating. As with any ceramic item, avoid sudden extreme temperature changes. Do not move a very cold mug directly into intense heat or place a very hot mug onto a cold, wet surface.

Avoid abrasive cleaning

Do not scrub the printed area with metal scourers or strongly abrasive pads. They can mark the glossy surface. A soft cloth, sponge and standard washing-up liquid are sufficient.

Check the ceramic before use

If a mug becomes cracked, chipped or badly damaged, stop using it for hot drinks. Damage can worsen when the ceramic heats and cools.

Will the print fade?

Any regularly used printed item experiences wear over time, but correct sublimation printing is designed for everyday use. Gentle washing, avoiding abrasives and protecting the mug from impacts will help preserve its appearance.

Storing and gifting the mug

Keep the mug protected from hard knocks. If posting or gifting it, use a suitable box with cushioning around the handle, which is the most vulnerable area.
